How to Activate Subtitles/Closed Captions

For instructions on how to enable or disable closed captions, please locate your device type below:

Android (mobile)

1. Launch the Tubi app on your Android device.
2. Tap on the Account tab along the bottom of the screen.
3. Tap on Captions.
4. You will now be in your phone's caption preferences where you can toggle captions ON or OFF for your entire device.

You can also enable or disable subtitles/captions on individual titles:

1. Select the video you want to watch.
2. Tap on the screen.
3. Tap on the CC icon in the upper right corner. It will become orange to indicate closed captions/subtitles are turned on and white to indicate closed captions/subtitles are turned off.

iOS

1. Start at your device's home screen. Open Settings.
2. Scroll to and select Accessibility.
3. Tap on Subtitles & Captioning.
4. Swipe the button next to "Closed Captions + SDH" to the right so it turns green.
5. Open the Tubi app. (App)
6. Select and play a video.
7. Tap on the screen as the movie or TV show is playing. Several video player control icons will appear on the screen.
8. Tap on the CC button on the top right corner of the screen.
9. Select the language in which you'd like subtitles to be.
10. Tap on Done on the top right corner and you'll be all set!

WEB

1. Select the video you want to watch.
2. Click on the screen.
3. Click on the “CC” button located at the bottom right-hand side of your screen.
4. Choose your preferred language to turn them on, or adjust settings shown to customize the appearance of captions

Smart TV's, Media Streaming Player Devices, & Game Consoles

1. Navigate to your device's Settings.
2. Select Captions Mode and choose when captions appear.

You can also enable or disable subtitles/captions on individual titles:

1. Select the video you'd like to watch from the Tubi home screen.
2. Make sure you see the CC icon near the top right or bottom of your screen, by the video's maturity rating (e.g. PG-13, TV-G, etc.). If the video doesn't have this "CC" icon, it doesn't have Closed Captions available on Tubi. 
3. Use your remote to navigate to this icon and toggle it on or off.  When the toggle is orange (as presented in the image above), captions should be enabled.
